Can you imagine trying to find your way around the New York City Subway system without a map? It would be impossible. You would end up going around in circles, frustrated, confused, and completely lost.

Yet that perfectly describes my attempts to quit smoking before I was lucky enough to stumble across Allen Carr. I was trapped.

I love traveling on the NYC Subway — but only when I have a map and a plan for my journey

It hadn’t been through a lack of trying — I’d become increasingly desperate to quit. It wasn’t just the coughing & wheezing or the financial burden of puffing my way through 4 packs of cigarettes every single day and it wasn’t just the shame and stigma of being the heaviest smoker I knew. …

“How will I cope with stress when I quit smoking?”

I’m going to use Allen Carr’s Easyway to Quit Smoking and am wondering what are some tips and tricks for when you have bad situation occur at work, dealing with mean people, stress etc? What do you do? Kathy, Martinsville, Maine, USA

Hey Kathy,

Well done for getting in touch with your query — I’m sure I can help.

Most smokers (and some ex-smokers) believe that smoking helps with stressful situations and the conclusion they draw in advance of quitting smoking is that their stress levels will increase. The great news is that in fact, the opposite is true and…

“Will it be harder to quit smoking if my partner smokes?”

For more than 35 years we’ve received requests for advice by letter, email, and postcard from all over the world. We’ve answered every single one of them, and continue to do so with pleasure.

My partner smokes (and I guess it’s the same for anyone who has a roommate that is a smoker)? I don’t want to be sucked back into smoking because I live with a smoker. My goal is to take care of myself, hope they see me as a beacon of hope or an inspiration, and choose to quit on their own at some point in the near future. In the past I’ve allowed other smokers to trigger me to go back to smoking and I don’t want that to happen this time. Do you have any advice about living with…

“Why do I always go back to smoking when I drink alcohol?”

For more than 35 years we’ve received requests for advice by letter, email, and postcard from all over the world. We’ve answered every single one of them, and continue to do so with pleasure.

“I quit smoking for 2 months then began to smoke occasionally whilst out drinking. I managed to keep it to that for a while (just smoking while drinking) but I’ve caved in this morning and am back to smoking properly. I’m afraid that I “lose it” when drinking alcohol. I’m so upset and disappointed with myself. Any words of advice for me please? Theo, Perth, Australia

Hi Theo,

Well done for getting in touch — I’m sure that I can set your mind at rest in my reply.

Firstly, you shouldn’t feel obliged to stop drinking alcohol in an attempt…

My name is Isabella, I’m a smoker and have just been diagnosed with pulmonary emphysema. Help!

“I’m from Chile and I am reading the book, Allen Carr’s Easyway to Quit Smoking. My diagnosis of having emphysema is a shock and I need to get better because my 3 year old daughter needs me! I am sure that I will succeed”. Isabella, Santiago, Chile

Firstly, I’m very sorry to hear about your diagnosis. As former chain-smoker myself I can…

I smoked my last cigarette last night. I primarily smoked out of boredom — what can I do when I’m bored?

“With two small children there’s nothing I can do (well, nothing I really want to do) to fill the boredom…the kids get into everything. I want so desperately for it to be easy. To be able to just brush off the big monster and ignore it. I woke up this morning and the monster is unbearable. I don’t want to smoke so why is it so loud? I got so bored and so stressed and uncomfortable. It’s supposed to be easy to tell it to go away and that I don’t want or need one but it’s not listening. I…

Allen Carr’s Easyway Helps WHO’s Global Effort

Allen Carr’s Easyway is a key contributor in the World Health Organisation’s year-long global campaign called “Commit to Quit”, which aims to support at least 100 million people as they try to quit tobacco.

World leaders should take their national smoking cessation efforts more seriously

As much as I’m proud of our involvement with the World Health Organisation throughout 2020/21 I can’t help being saddened by the UK Government’s stubborn refusal to accept our numerous offers of help for smokers in the country where the method was devised & developed. Allen Carr’s Easyway is a UK success story, one that’s become a global phenomenon.

My shame of not “getting” the Easyway the first time.

This is quite a long, rambling read, but if you’ve failed to stop smoking with Allen Carr’s Easyway, please do read this. I’m sure that you’ll find it useful (& there are details of the free of charge support that we offer all book readers).

I had the good fortune to be saved from my life as a chain-smoker by Allen Carr and his brilliant Easyway method. …
